01 — The challenge

A catalogue needs hierarchy.

Rayca already had a website, but moving into e-commerce required more than adding products to it. The catalogue needed a clear structure that could help users move from broad product families to individual products without making the experience feel overwhelming.

02 — Structure

Before designing screens, we defined how the store would work.

I led the UX/UI, information architecture and visual system, and shaped the site structure together with the Project Manager. A flat catalogue would bury most products, so I prioritised the client's categories by relevance — the key ones lead navigation, the rest stay one step away.

03 — Benchmark

Learning from familiar shopping patterns.

With a broad catalogue across different product families, I chose IKEA as a functional reference: the aim was to borrow navigation and product-discovery patterns people already know to cut cognitive load — not to copy its look.

04 — Product discovery

Helping users find the right product.

Navigation carries the catalogue: priority categories lead, secondary ones stay one step away.

05 — From category to product

Different pages. One continuous experience.

07 — Visual system

One system, across every page.

I built the visual system used throughout the site — typography hierarchy, colour, grid, spacing, sizing, image treatment and reusable interface patterns — so commercial, product, corporate and editorial pages all feel like one store.

08 — Responsive scope

Adapting the main entry point.

The homepage was designed across desktop and mobile, adapting navigation, hierarchy and content to the smaller viewport. The remaining templates were delivered in desktop format according to the project's scope.

The new experience was developed and launched, transforming Rayca's previous website into an e-commerce platform with a structured catalogue, dedicated product pages and a consistent visual system.
